From a very young age I had a great love for music (singing and guitar), drama (speech and drama classes and generally loved performing in any way) and dance (mostly ballet and modern). I found various ways to explore these talents throughout my schooling. After doing various jobs, studying and travelling, I found a way to bring all these aspects together. I began my studies to become a Waldorf Kindergarten Teacher. I feel that it was at this time, that I discovered my true passion…working with children. I au paired for two different families here in Cape Town while I completed my studies.
I began teaching in 1999. I taught both Playgroup (3 – 4 year olds) for 4 years and Kindergarten (4 – 6 year olds) for 2 years. I loved every second of it! I knew immediately that working with young children was to be my life’s work. Personally, I find working with children (and their parents) an absolute privilege. The joy, wonder and enthusiasm for life that little ones bring, is so inspiring to me - not to mention their unaffected honesty!  In 2005, after 6 years teaching experience, I decided to take a break from teaching and start a family…My Husband and I are now thrilled to have a beautiful 3 year old daughter, Jenna. Becoming a mother has been the most challenging and rewarding experience and I feel privileged for the growth journey it has put me on. When Jenna was 2 years old, I began taking her along to some "Our Time" Kindermusik Classes and Wow! I was amazed! I had previously tried taking Jenna to a number of different Toddler programs, but nothing had felt right. I saw straight away that there is something special about Kindermusik. Within a few weeks, I just knew teaching Kindermusik was to be the next part of my journey. I then completed my Kindermusik training and became a licenced Kindermusik Educator in June of 2008. I taught in Constantia and Imhoff for 1 year, but sadly had to stop, due to financial constraints. I am now planning some exciting new ventures in 2010 and look forward to continue my journey in working with children and their parents in a variety of ways. Some ways I am working on include - continueing to bring the magic and joy of music along with the importance of movement to parents and children;
- creating some nurturing time for women; and offering workshops and
- workshops around practical ways to bring Waldorf philosophies into our parenting)!
;
I look forward to meeting you.
