Meet owner and teacher Sam...
I am a fully qualified Waldorf Playgroup and Kindergarten Teacher. I completed my studies at The Centre for Creative Education at the end of 2000.
I spent my first 3 years teaching as the Playgroup Group Teacher at Gaia Waldorf School in Observatory. From my first day I was hooked...and stepped into the magical world of singing and stories and imaginative play. And lots and lots of glitter! Fairies, Knomes, Elves and Nature in all it's Magick and the never ending awe and wonder, so present in the lives of little ones.
Then I spent a year teaching at Stellenbosch Waldorf as their Playgroup teacher. It was amazing getting know a different community, but ultimately decide it wasn't sustainable going forward, as it was too far of a commute for me.
Then I was overjoyed to be offered a position at my dream school, Constantia Waldorf. This time as one of their Kindergarten Teachers. I was deeply honored to be working alongside my lecturer and Mentor, Veronica Blommeris. I worked there for two incredible years before leaving teaching to become a mother to our now 15 year old daughter.
Since then I ran a mom's and toddler program, teaching Kindermusik for a year. Went back to Constantia Waldorf as a relief teacher for another year before falling in love with photography. Out of that Twinkle Star Photography was born. I mostly worked with Pregnant Couples, Newborns and young families. After some time, I trained as a Mama Bama Doula and specialized in Birth Photography. Which was a deeply fulfilling part of my journey.
I was in my element for many years, until in 2016, when I became sick. And unfortunately had to close Twinkle Star Photography.
Ultimately I now find myself drawn back into my work as a Waldorf Toddler Group Teacher.
It would be an incredible privilege to do this work again.
When numbers grow, I plan to have an assistant. I have someone in mind and she is a complete natural with children. She followed her lifelong dream of training as a teacher in Educare (Waldorf), also at the Centre for Creative Education, a few years ago.
I am so excited to meet you and your family and to chatting further. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or to set up an interview.

Twinkle Star Littlies' Philosophy
Unique and Valuable
We teach in line with the Waldorf Approach and the teachings of Rudolf Steiner. We believe that children thrive in an environment which values their own uniqueness, while providing support and opportunities to grow emotionally, socially and creatively. By building on each child’s strengths, interests and curiosities, we guide each child to explore the world around them as well as develop new abilities and form close relationships.
